The Little Things Like Laundry
What Empowers You As A Woman of Vitality?

This morning, I set out to accomplish a variety of tasks in order to prepare for my weekend departure to finally enjoy some form of vacation. Needless to say, all the things that I was supposed to do barely came into fruition. One after the other after the other, I became distracted with other tasks. For example, I finished up breakfast and was simply doing the dishes when, behold, the neighborhood groundhog skulkingly meandered toward my garden and scurried under the fence toward my very large squash patch. The nerve! I ran out running, hoping to scare him away, which I did in fact! But alas, now to a task I did not see myself taking on on a day like today -- a day of much needed preparation.
An hour later I came tromping back inside, bitten up by mosquitoes, extremely thirsty, dripping with sweat. That calm, cool, collected day I had planned was entirely thrown out the window. All my energy drained...
But it's okay! After an hour or two of dilly-dallying here and there, I finally got back on track and this is where my day truly starts.
Scrolling through Pinterest is a favorite pastime of mine, and thankfully, I was exhausted enough to plop down in the recliner to find this pin, "Historical Hair Care" - Grew My Hair to Hip Length by Katherine Haircare. Watched the whole 50 some minute YouTube video, faithfully taking notes to implement as soon as I would return from my vacation. It's platforms like these that I get the most excited... a change in someone after becoming a mother... suddenly all that we have been digesting and applying on ourselves for so many years becomes entirely visible once we start thinking about putting them on our precious children!
And my journey doesn't just start with this pin, it goes way back! But that's a story for another time! Today, after participating in this active learning experience, I shot up from my recliner and pounced my way to the laundry room to wash my first batch of clothes with a new recipe of homemade, non-toxic laundry detergent powder. May I please tell you that this is such an empowering thing to do?!? Your body's largest organ is your skin... and everything you wear and put on affects how you live your life. Not to mention, but I couldn't stop sniffing my laundry, it overflowed with "calm".
This is a more personal matter, but I have to share it because folding my laundry with the clean scent that it had gave me the same feeling as when a hummingbird feeds from the honeysuckle in my garden-- I feel completely honored as a creative woman!
If you follow the link to the laundry detergent powder recipe, you'll see that it calls for Castile bar soap. It's best to use this commercial soap because we know for a fact that it is non-toxic, but if you are like me who makes her own bar soaps, using your own creation also works just as well! And having the scent permeating on your clothing from your time and energy portrayed, is the most wholesome thing.
By mindfully taking action to reduce symptomatic living and open up to viable opportunities of enjoyment, I can profusely say that I am leaning into a more holistically-well empowered lifestyle. My clothes smell fresh! And this isn't the only thing that I have begun to change recently!
About two weeks ago, I purchased cotton undies and bras. Unfortunately, I did purchase them on Amazon, but they are fabulous nonetheless. (I've recently cancelled my Amazon Prime subscription and have begun to seek out other brick and mortar and also online locations to find the items of need... It's a difficult task, but I am determined!)
I rarely wear bras, but when I do, I am covered in breathable fabric that has good frequencies and life-giving benefits. I encourage you, never mind the scheduling conflicts! Make the most of what life avails to you and do not just reside in the "comfort". Be courageous and live a life of abundance and vitality!
Here is the recipe I used for my homemade laundry detergent-- I hope you give it a try!
